OMESHIA BOWENS

Omeshia is the founder of Still Rising Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to empowering women, strengthening families, and preventing teenage pregnancy. As a former teen mother, her lived experiences shape her advocacy, commitment to education, and passion for helping women and girls rewrite their narratives.
Omeshia is also an accomplished public speaker and international author of poetry and self-help books, with her work available through Barnes & Noble. In 2023, she hosted a book signing at Barnes & Noble, and in 2025, her most recent book was released in Japan, where she spent nearly two weeks engaging with international audiences and attending the Japanese World Expo.
Her global experiences include studying abroad in Morocco (2024), further expanding her cultural competency and global perspective. As a guest speaker representing Bennett College, she has presented on Black maternal health at the National Black Caucus, advocating for improved maternal outcomes and systemic change.
Omeshia is a proud member of Top Ladies of Distinction and holds a BSW from Bennett College.
